If anyone else has some good links on any kind of free studio or lighting related training videos it would be nice if you could post them here too.

Screen Actors Guild (USA)

The SAG video is actually a discussion on headshot styles which is enlightening as it becomes clear that the panel involved all want different things - its interesting to see how much latitude is available to the photographer and how the casting directors personal artistic prejudices come into it. Its also quite funny in places as they are quite a fun panel.

Assorted studio / lighting tips mixed in with general photography/business, also info about working with stylists, makeup artists etc. Good hints on photographing men. Gets more fun and relaxed in later videos.

Not directly studio or lighting but I found this interesting for retouching after as I had not seen this technique before (retouching first with 'frequency separation' as mentioned in this video is a few articles further down this thread).

Posing in an 'old school' traditional manner.
Personally I find the posing a bit narrow, as the poses for men and women are very defined and should not cross to the other sex. However its interesting to see how todays posing has changed in some ways and stayed the same in others. Lots of the tips are useful.

Shooting a great portrait or headshot is much more than using the right lens and lighting. The real work happens long before the shoot, and that is the planning. If you don't consider the final use of the photos, discuss outfits, jewelry, hair and makeup with your subject and insure that everything is in place to make a great portrait or headshot - you will not be able to get consistently good results.

Have posted up most of my fall back favorites - the ones I found most interesting or useful, so keeping an eye out for new ones now. I see a lot of people look at this thread, but I am not sure how many actually bother with viewing the videos, but its a handy place to send people rather than having to quote videos each time in replies to questions.. Its nice of you to have commented.

I like this person as he is very modest and open. Unusually, despite doing fashion work he also happily chats about doing product shoots etc. Lots of 'high end' photographers will not openly admit to this aspect of making money in their studios as they think the admission of doing mundane everyday work might lower their 'brand' image. I respect this guy for his honesty and willingness to share.
