good afternoon guys

I have a Freecom 2TB data tank that I use to backup my photos and video, its not very old (about 4 or 5 years) but has not been used very much, I cant seem to access it anymore, I plug the usb cable (its a usb to firewire cable) and the power light comes on, then it just sits there doing nothing, I can hear a slight whirring noise coming from it, but that is it, and when I unplug it to try to reboot it the power stays on and wont switch off until I physically pull the plug from it, my computer doesnt recognize it as my backup drive like it used to, the unit its self is sealed so I cant even take it apart to look at it.

can anyone help me please as I have some very personal photos and family video on it I really dont want to lose?

thanks in advance for any help and advice

most likely is the enclosure has given up, freecom is a particularly cheap brand. best course of action would be to split the disk out into another enclosure.

p.s. - its not a backup if its the only copy of your data. always keep 2 copies.
