These guys are normally asleep :)
Taken through wire this made odd effects on the out of focus background, I managed to clone most of it out. The missus thought I was sad spending an hour doing it:D

Nice shots 1st would get my vote.
But it's not a Nightjar, it's a Frogmouth owl.

Nice shots Pete, we have them at my local, but we are slightly more lucky in that there are 3 in a walkthrough, with no fence/wire in the way, going by what I have read on them, they are actualy Tawny Frogmouths, and although in the owl family, not strictly an owl :D but that could depend on who wrote what I read, compared to others :D

we do have a walkthrough aviary at Chester , havent visited it for ages will check it out next time I go:)

I saw the frogmouth again at the zoo yesterday this time he was asleep as usaul and hiding in the far corner of the cage:D
