New 50-135mm has recently dropped in price, a lot of the used lenses Chris sells are on comission so the price is set by the owner.

40mm has also recently come down but have you looked at the DA 35mm macro or the cheaper 35mm f2.4?
 
Useful to know! I checked in the forums and s/h 50-135 go for around 500 which is an amount I am happy to pay. Even 639 is ok for a brand new one.

I like the 40mm cause I find the 35 a tiny bit too wide and also like the extremely small size. It is almost on a line with the flash and just makes it that much more compact so happy to pay the premium there too. Wouldn't mind if I was to save 200-250 on both of them buying s/h though :)
 
Damn the expense - treat yourself to a new one. You won't regret it. :)

That and the DFA 100 Macro are the reasons that I still have a Pentax.
 
I just might though have to wait for most of my Nikon gear to sell. Couldn't spend another 2k without selling first cause apart from my dwindling bank account my finger number will be dwindling too through a hammer used by my OH :p

Worth the extra just for the 2 year warranty. Must admit I sold mine once I bought the DA 60-250mm but have since bought a Sigma 50-150mm for the f2.8
