A picture showing frost on barbed-wire.. Does it work? Maybe as a mono picture?

I like it, a lot! Maybe nicer if the background was darker, but you can't really change that.

I've yet to play outside with the frost, but I should do.

Depth of Field - it's the area of the photograph that's in focus.

I'm guessing that you shot this at a very wide aperture? Maybe f1.8 in order to throw the background out of focus?

Without knowing your lens & aperture choice (you've stripped the EXIF data) it's just a guess but a 50mm lens at f1.8 from a metre away gives a depth-of-field of about 1cm either side of the focal point. If you close this down to f2.8 then you'll increase that to 2cm either side.

Saying all that, I had another look at the shot and think that it's probably just personal preference so don't worry too much about it! It's still a nice shot and makes me look forward to the next frost.
 
I love the photo, tried to take something simple to this but I dare say that you's is much better.
 
That middle bit looks like a bottle brush!! :nuts:
 
Thanks Flash, but I think that I stick with my original-photo.. I do like the blueish colour though..
