Fuji cashback offer - keep your wits about you

Yes
If you bought any Fuji X-Series kit between 21st May and 3rd August, you could qualify for £75 cashback per item. But the claim process isn't as straightforward as you might hope.

Firstly, you have to wait 30 days after your purchase before you can claim. I can't help thinking that Fuji are hoping that at least some people will forget.

So you made a note in your diary, waited 30 days and then started the claim process. And about halfway through the process you suddenly find out that - in addition to your purchase invoice/receipt and photos of your serial numbers - you need the retailer's dispatch note.

Honestly. Who keeps things like that? The receipt is the proof of purchase, so why would anyone keep the dispatch note?

And the thing is, Fuji don't tell you this at the start. They only tell you after you've waited the 30 days, so there's a very high chance you will have thrown it away.....

Sneaky or what?

Is the 30 day wait to stop people claiming the cash back on an item they have returned?

Cheeky from Fuji

What does the dispatch note prove? What if it was bought in store?

I seem to remember the previous cash back had the dispatch note requirement. They did accept reprints for me. If that was a mistake or not who knows?

They accepted the dispatch email from me. Amazon don't include anything but the item in most parcels now.

Different manufacturer, but had the same for a Panasonic camera I purchased. The reason for the 30 days was explained to me, as mentioned, so that people can't claim a cashback then return the item.

I didn't get any dispatch note in the box from Amazon, but was very easy to save a copy from the site, which Panasonic happily accepted. None of it felt sneaky to me.

Dispatch note hardly signifies you have not returned an item.. you get dispatch note well before you return something.

I thought the 30 day standstill was to ensure you did not return it.

I wondered about that. But if it were true:
A. Why don't the other manufacturers have a similar policy?
B. How are they going to know if you've returned it? The retailer won't be allowed to share details about your commercial transactions, and there's nothing in Fuji's terms and conditions that gives them the right to obtain such data from the retailer.

I'd imagine retailers work on a sale or return basis, returned lenses get passed to Fuji (and end up on the refurb site) and the serial numbers submitted for cashback would be tracked through to the returns list

The 30 days would give Fuji time to process those returns from retailers

Sounds very plausible.

I wonder why other manufacturers don't do that?

This is the third promotion Fuji have done now. If you buy from a local Fuji dealer. You just hand over payment, get a receipt and walk out with your lens. No dramas. In addition, I've submitted my claim to Fuji well within the 30 days and received prompt payment. I've been savy enough to keep photocopies of the receipt though and also the claim form. No experience this year but had no issues in the past.

I've used the fuji casback offer on a xe2 body. Claimed 150 back no problems at all. I bought the body from wex and just sent in copies of the order email and invoice. Really easy.

I've seen this on a few other items and presumed it was as has been said, to make sure you don't claim and return the item.

What happens if you have picked the item up in person ? You won't have a dispatch notice then ?

Never had a problem with a Fuji claim and done 3 of them

The last one was with this new system and accepted in 24 hours. You don't need a dispatch note if you bought over the counter at a shop, it only appears that you do if do rising one of the online only retailers.

Most companies would issue you with a duplicate if requested (I'm sure that Lenses For Hire would!)

IMO this really is a non-thread, Fuji have offered some amazing deals over the last 24 months and to complain about jumping through a extra hoop or two when claiming, is quite frankly churlish!!!

No, you won't. It only says that you need a dispatch note if you've bought it online. But I still don't understand why.

Aah, I wonder if its along the same lines as waiting 30 days to claim, that you have placed an order, cancelled it and then still falsely claim you have ordered (and received) the item ?

After submitting my claim i had an email saying "We require a proof of delivery for purchases made online. Will you please send us a delivery note for the following item".
Doesn't mention it anywhere in the claim form.

I purchased a X-T1 from WEX (Not online) sent invoice and copies of serial nos to FUJI got a email by return saying claim had been accepted 12 days later money in my bank.
