Hi Folks,

I was just looking at the fuji site having a think about switching and noticed the list of qualifying lenses and the discounts available. Now if i'm not mistaken you can buy the 56mm, the 55-230 and 16-50 for around £1250 then discount £500 from this leaves you with all three for around £750. You could sell the zooms and be left with the 56mm for under £500. Are these deals dependent on the combinations or is it a given that you get £500 off any three lenses?

These three are on their list though. I just thought it might have been a case of you had to buy three higher end lenses but i didn't know if that was the case.

Thats a different list from the one i just read. Weird.
 
And buying to re-sell rarely gets you the yield you expect.. eBay and the photography forums have plenty of unsold over-priced secondhand Fuji lenses as a result of people having already done what you suggest.
 
Yes I think it was an independent shops list I read. Oh well. Usually I would always buy second hand for the savings but the fuJi promotions are such that the prices are not a million miles apart.
 
Some of us were lucky earlier in the year when Fuji had the free lens deal with the Xpro-1 and the £300.00 cashback for two lens purchase. I was lucky as I advertised my body and lenses on ebay and managed to get local cash buyers so made a profit of £246.00 on the system when I sold up my Xpro and inititial lenses. I made a £87.00 profit (after ebay fees) on two lens deal and after £300.00 cashback. It also helped that I had a free Billingham bag when I purchased my Xpro from Wex which I also sold. The prices on this forum at the time were very low as people were selling lenses which they had free, it was better selling on ebay even after fees.

If Fuji will bring out a better deal after Christmas is anyones guess, but I can't see it beating the deals we had earlier in the year. As mentioned by Alistair, It's harder now as the system is flooded with secondhand sales you only have to look what current selling prices are, for the cameras currently on the market.

Edit: When I sold camera I chucked in some extras, card, Paracord strap & battery, so I would take aprrox £50.00 of my profit.

Also, I only sold up due to me not getting on with the EVF, I was having an arc eye effect, my Optician believes I was having mini migraines.

If you do want to buy and sell, IMO the only camera which may return a profit is the Nikon D750 if bought grey for less then £1200 and sell for a few hundred more on ebay. A risky business, but one which you could possibly make a living out of if you have the cash to outlay up-front.
