Fuji S2 PRO running on 4xAA only?

Can I run a quick test on Fuji S2 Pro using only 4xAA since I've read somewhere that the camera is powered by 4xAA and the Li-ion batteries are only for the flash?
 
That's a pity, I got an offer for a S2 Pro, but the batteries are out at least that's what the seller is saying, and I would need power to test the camera :S
 
IIRC the S2 pro I owned ran on 4XAA batteries, placed in a tray at the bottom. The 2 CR123's were to power the pop-up flash and the AF system. The 4xAA's will power the AF system but not the flash and will not last long without the CR123's, but it is possiable to use the camera without the CR123;s (without the flash) IIRC!

EDIT: non-rechargable CR123's can be used (CR123a's are the rechargeable equivelent IIRC)

I have see post 2
edit it will work with 4 aa if they are not dead ones like the ones i used last night
