I recently bought a fuji s5.

And after a very busy month, I today finally got around to taking the images off the camera to see the horror photoshop message of "could not open - wrong file type"

So, I ask, what do you guys who have the s5 use to open the raw files.

I have Photoshop cs2 with the raw 3.7 (i think)

thanks

I import into lightroom (though be careful not to import as DNG or you lose the additional data from the sensor), and everything is good from there. Never had a problem whatsoever with raw files...don't know if installing the fuji software would help you?

And good choice of camera btw :D :P

I use Lightroom, but I believe there is a ACR upbate from the Adobe site for the S5 Pro. Whether it works with CS2 I don't know though, sorry.

Use the Finepix studio software that came with the camera to import the RAF files, convert to TIFF, then into Photoshop. Finepix studio allows you to change any setting you could set within the camera's settings but nothing else. You will have some rather large file sizes though. I wouldn't bother with ACR and CS2 as it does not offer anything for the S5.

Silkypix might be worth a look.

thanks for that ben

To be honest I thought that the S5 would have been old enough that raw 3.7 would have worked with cs2. My bad shoudl have asked the quetion first.

thanks flash, I will look at that option as well, see which works best (and quickest)

The S5 wasn't supported by ACR until the 4.1 update:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3651

There is no real support for the S5 in ACR 4.1 4.4 4.6 or 5.3, just one option, which is pants.

You can download a trial of Lightroom with ACR 5.3 and try it, but you still will not be able to open your DNG's in CS2.

The S5 produces great JPG's, but if you want to go down the RAF RAW route, I would trial SILKYPIX.
