ok guys,ive just purchased an MB-D200 grip for my fuji S5pro from the forums here and its occured to me that i may need to buy the Nikon EL-3 batteries for it...........or can i use my own fujiS5 batteries

need to know asap as i need to test it and dont want to damage the grip or camera by using the wrong ones

I use the fuji NP-150 in mine works fine and am able to check battery info in camera.

PsiFox.ive jut been searching several other forums and it sates that the Nikon batteries cannot be used with the Mb-D200 however there maybe a Fuji firmware update that allows them to be used.did you update your firmware or did your Fuji already have an update installed or do you know which update was required

i have found on other forums however that the MB-D200 will accept the Fuji NP150 battereis so am looking for confirmation on this

I have the MB-D200 on my S5 and to confirm what Mark says, it will only work with the NP150 batteries, the Nikon ones look the same but the camera doesn't recognise them.

There is no firmware update to allow the use of Nikon batteries in the camera, that was just someone on Flickr suggesting it might happen, it didn't....
 
thanks guys.i dont need to go out and buy Nikon batteries which was my worry,thats good :).i will be testing my grip later with the NP 150

Think of the grip as just essentially a case with an extension cable in it, it has no electronics of is own and just transfers the power/data from the battery to the camera.
 
Yup fuji np-150 or third party models work fine:)

having tried a friends D200 with grip i also found it feels better ballanced in the hand :) and that was my reason for buying it,extended battery life is only a slight bonus too me

its now tried and tested.NP 150 and then copies and then AA rechargables.all working fine.peter likes his new toy :)
