Fuji X 2014 Lens line-up. Who's excited?

My Pentax kit looks a heck of a lot sadder today than it did yesterday!

I just took whiff of the new lenses that Fuji is announcing to be available within 2014 and I can't wait. The main reason I went into Pentax a few years back was the small body, fantastic small primes and generally high quality zooms.

In two short years Fuji has just matched or surpassed Pentax in several key areas (size and fast high quality lenses). Although I hope that the rumours of a weather sealed body mean that the new high quality zooms have some weather proofing too as in this country it is almost a necessity and where Pentax still has the advantage.

I don't shoot on the Tele end almost at all so my lenses are within the 10-150mm range. Fuji has just covered the whole lot with 2 important fast zooms, an extended normal zoom and a unspecified long tele!

The two I am really keen on are:

16-55mm 2.8 (depending on size/weather proofing I might still keep the 18-55 but if it is not much bigger and weather sealed it is definitely in my future)

50-140mm 2.8 ! YES YES YES! The one lens I just never thought I'd ever give up the Pentax system for was the 50-135 2.8. Probably the best lens I have ever used in terms of IQ and build quality. If Fuji manages similar results in a slightly smaller body with their fantastic metal construction then it is game over. Especially if it has weather sealing!

Sorry for the over enthusiastic post but I still can't get over that Fuji gave me in 2 years all I wanted from Pentax for the past 4 (complement up their fantastic small primes with smaller lighter high quality bodies and zooms!)
 
Yup, I can't wait for these lenses either. Also quite interested to hear about the super telephoto zoom too.

If only they would give me manual controls (or at least an exposure lock) in video mode the X-E1 would be practically perfect.
 
Yup, other manufacturers could learn a thing or two.

Fast well built lenses with decent price tags and fantastic image quality and they support and improve on older cameras and lenses by offering FW updates that actually offer improved performance rather than just a number change.

Very excited about the 56mm, will go nicely with my 35mm and my 23mm thats on the way.

Decent video and improved low light AF performance would be welcome.

quite excited about the 16-55 which would be a lovely lens to take on walks in the hills. Im just waiting to see what new bodies they may announce this year before deciding the flog all my nikon kit. I briefly had an x-e1 and that was lovely so can only drool over what they bring out next. In a perfect world i would love to see what they can do with a FF sensor.
 
Yes I think the 16-50 on my Pentax is my most used lens by quite a margin, but the whole lot is well over 1.2kg ! If the Fuji one ends up being on the 400gr mark or less and somewhat less bulky while keeping IQ to the same standard as the 35mm/18-55mm then I have just completed my lens lineup! (I am definitely getting the 10-24mm to replace the Sigma 10-20 which I never liked all that much
 
The new lenses look really exciting. The new 56mm is the one I have been waiting for but the fast longer zooms are tempting too. There is also supposed to be a proper 1:1 macro in the works that they haven't put on the map.

I've had 3 cameras from fuji (x10 first, and currently an X-Q1 and X-E1) and the firmware updates have always impressed me as well (y)
 
Dear Fuji,

Please invent something like the SU-800 / Nikon creative lighting system / PW AC3. Then you may just get my undivided loyalty. Your cameras and lenses rock. And more-so every day. Your flash kind of sucks.
 
The 10-24 is definitely the next buy for me as I like WA lenses, now that I have seen these shots it is even more of a sure buy! Thanks for the link
 
Really looking forward to the telephoto zoom early next year. The 56mm 1.2 is also high on my list if funds allow.

Amazingly fast fleshing out of such a new system, the only real in-demand lens outstanding is a fast 85-90mm ish lens.

Fuji will claim that the 56 fills that 85 gap. They even quote it in "35mm terms" on their website.

They are moving pretty fast - but don't forget the X-Pro 1 has been out for nearly 2 years now. In digital camera terms that's practically prehistoric :) So nice to see Fuji carving a new niche for themselves though. As nice as the S5 etc were it never seemed right to be making poshed up Nikons.

Lots of people seem to be after a 135mm lens in 35mm terms (so around 90mm in real terms). Having owned the Canon 135mm f2 on a 5D I can see why.
 
Am I right in thinking, given the crop factor, that the 56mm 1.2 on the fuji x sensor will be equivalent to an 84mm 1.8 on full frame? If so I'm looking forward to a Canon 5/6d + 85 1.8 vs Fuji X + 56 1.2

Yes, 56mm f/1.2 becomes 84mm f/1.8 equiv in full-frame terms - multiply focal length and f/number by crop factor.

I think it's the 50-140/2.8 that will open up Fuji to more enthusiasts and pros (75-210/4.2 FF equiv) though Jonathan's point about the Fuji flash system is a good one.

I am a sucker for that range! When I had a Nikon I had the lovely Sigma 50-150 2.8 and soon after switching to Pentax the first new lens I bought for it was the 50-135 2.8 . I really can't wait
