Fuji X-E2 or OMD E5?

Contemplating getting one of these to replace my x100.

The x-e2 with say the 35mm 1.4 will work out a few hundred extra than the omd with a 17mm 1.8 oly lens, and am prepared to pay this if the difference is worth it. So wanted to find out if anyone has used both and any opinions in either?

Yes and i do prefer the XE-2,the main thing for me is that Fuji has the better sensor,handling wise i do like the rangefinder design of the Fuji as well.

Also for you coming from the X100 you know a lot of the Fuji layout already

I have both an X100 and X-E2, but not really had enough time to play with the X-E2 to get a good handle on it. I bought it for some more lens flexibility and have the 35mm and 18-55 zoom. I'm not replacing the X100 though, I just love that camera.

On first pass the X-E2 produces some very sharp, vibrant images, more punchy than the X100 (which is not bad itself). I personally would find the 35mm lens on the X-E2 as an only lens as too limiting, I'd prefer the equivalent to the X100 as a walkabout lens, as for what I take pictures of it covers more bases.

Ask me again after Christmas and I'd have a more detailed response!!!

Thanks! The omd appealed due it's lightning fast AF as the x100 isn't quick enough for me even with the latest firmware. Will be interesting to hear how the AF on the x-e2 with 24mm or 35mm lenses compares...

It might sound daft, but obviously the OMD shoots photos in 4x3 format where are the X-E2 shoots 3x2. I have the EM5 and I like it but for landscape oriented shots I prefer 3x2 format so sometimes crop to that ratio. It has made me think of changing to the fuji system, but I am heavily invested in micro 4/3rds lenses and would lose a fair bit selling it all.

I would also expect better image quality from the XE-2 due to its larger sensor and no anti aliasing filter.

You are right about the EM5 being fast to focus though. You can also touch the screen to focus and shoot which occasionally is useful.

I don't have the XE2 but I do have the XE1 with the latest FW. AF was always useable but after the latest FW it is really a non issue any longer with both the 35mm and the 18-55. The XE2 is supposedly improving things even more so it would be very unfair judging it based on experience from the X100 which was a slow and quirky camera.
