If... and its a very big IF... any of this is even remotely true and the best they are offering is a 24mp sensor with more bells and whistles then honestly I'll stick to my original X-Pro1.
I don't like the new controls, cant see a point in the front control dial (most use lenses with aperture rings) don't like the idea of fiddley joy sticks and certainly don't like the D pad from the XT-1, I thought I would love an adjustable diopter until I got the XT-1 where I found I can't dial in a setting that suits my eyesight, whereas oddly the +2 diopter fitted to my X-Pro1 does.
I think the only three things I wanted to improve the X-Pro1 where the ability to directly map the rear control wheel to directly control the ISO, 1/3 detents on the shutter speed dial so you didn't have to use the D pad and finally a monochrome version, i.e. just luminance data.
I have always been very happy with the simple control set on the X-Pro1 and loved the whole ethos of getting back to controlling the exposure in a more traditional manner, never found the AF lacking personally in fact never found the camera lacking.
It also looks like with the specs detailed here that the only things that will set an X-Pro2 & XT-2 apart are the OVF and body style, I'm not so sure its a good idea to have them so closely matched i.e. with such small differences between them, I always thought that if I wanted faster AF etc then ok buy an XT-1, actually I wanted the wireless remote shooting so bought one, but it turned out to be no good as it needs line of sight and has a woefully short range/keeps dropping, but why would someone buy both proposed new camera's when either will do the same job as the other?
Maybe I'm a bit of a fuddy duddy, I remember back when the Nikon FM came out along with its later siblings, nothing tempted me from the original FM even though they had more features, I was happy with the basic camera, simple, built like a tank and worked perfectly, it wasn't a defective design so why try to fix it?
Thats kind of how I feel about the X-Pro1, simple, built like a tank and works perfectly, its not broken and others in the X range provide the features many have wanted so why fix it?
Finally the sensor, 24mp is just too much, one of the major features of the x trans sensor was its fantastic low light performance, yet craming more pixels onto the same size sensor means the pixel size has to be reduced, smaller pixels mean less light gathering power, the bigger the pixels the better on that score and 16mp's is plenty for even massive enlargements.
I'm not convinced a release is imminent and not convinced whats listed here is enough to interest me personally,
