Fuji X-S1 RAW & JPEG mode question

Hope this is in the correct section

I need a bit of help with my FUJI X-S1

According to the instructions if I set the RAW mode to RAW & JPEG both will be recorded with every shutter press. But with mine all I get is JPEG's, to get raw pictures I have to either only have raw selected in the menu not raw & JPEG or press the raw button on the camera back and then I only get raw with no JPEG.

Am I missing something here or are the instructions wrong. I cannot get it to record both raw and JPEG at the same time.

Hi, No you're not missing something. If you are shooting in RAW or RAW + JPEG mode, only images in JPEG will be visible on the camera screen after shooting but both should have been recorded. Even if you have shot in RAW only, the image visible on your camera screen is JPEG.

I'm reasonably sure that this is the same with all digital cameras (I could be wrong), certainly with the FUJIx cameras that I have this is what happens.

When the images are transfered to your computer you should see two files of each shot right next to each other if shot in RAW + JPEG mode. One will be a RAW file that will need a compatible program to open it, the other will be a JPEG thumbnail.

Pretty much what George has said, when you download to your computer you should have both a .jpg and .raf versions of the same image.

Previews will automatically use the saved jpg file, both on the camera and the computer.
