Fuji x100 TLC owners please help

I have an x100t ,And think I want the TLC . Im the sort of person thats buys without thinking should I have until it arrives but there is something holding me back, sometimes the x100 feels too wide especially for people shots so will the TLC really make that much difference or could I not just take 5 steps closer?? I think what im trying to say will it change the look of the images or just give me a cropped 23mm picture.

So did anyone have the same issues as me and buy one? If so whats your thoughts now?

and before anyone suggests- I have tried it in the shop and to be honest it hasnt helped as I think Id need it for a week before id really know.

Mine stays on my silver x100 all the time. You can get them for Around £110-120 on eBay. It may add a bit of bulk but in someways I prefer the look of the camera with it on.

I too have one... and I also leave it on most of the time.
It does make it bulkier, but it's easy enough to take it off and slip it in to my pocket, for when I want a bit wider. And, it does make a difference between the two lenses(I think so anyway)
I take your point about maybe just taking a few extra steps closer, but, I prefer the option of not having to...

There is a difference between changing focal length and changing position.

I'm no expert on the item in question, but it can't 'crop' the image, it changes the focal length of the lens. But a 50mm equivalent is still not that long.

Yeah I know what you mean Phil , as I say I'm the buy now think about it after type of guy but something's holding me back , then some people say when they buy it they never take it off so now I'm thinking sell it and get an xpro or xe2 etc with the 35 1.4 lens and have the option for more lenses later

Don't forget you loose the leaf shutter if you get a different body.
I can see your point of you need longer reach in the future though.

I bought my TCL for my x100T so I could get a few more natural shots of my grandchildren, it does help being a further away. They are less wary of me and the camera. I am doing a series at the moment on bus journeys and a few people in my thread have said that 50mm equiv would be too tight in a confined space, after using the TCL i can see that would be a problem. I can see no loss in quality from using the TCL in real world use. I also have the WCL, I have hardly used this but its there for when I need to change things up and for holidays. Having three focal lengths at my disposal is a real plus, generally i will only use one, so stick at 28, 35 or 50mm for the day. This gives me a new perspective for not a lot of extra money. I am trying to get a handle on street photography and the 50mm helps me as I am still learning, still looking for the shot and timing, the exta distance helps me feel less intrusive.

I am glad I bought my TCL, its has added a dimension to my photography and hopefully will stop me getting bored just stuck at 35mm.

I realise that the whole point of a x100 series is to keep things to a minimum and simple but I feel that the x100t plus the two converters is small and very capable kit. Its easy to shoot with and the jpegs are really nice. My next change would be for a 40m full frame kit or a Leica M Monochrome. That will be a long time coming. Until then it's pound the streets and ride the buses and enjoy my little combo.

Well said pp - I have both of the converters and find them really useful. But if you think of them like lenses on a dslr or csc and try to change them all the time they will do your head in. I'll decide, based on where I am for the next hour or two, what focal length I want and then look for the shots that suit that fov. The image quality from both wide and tele is great too.

TBH, I think the CSC option is probably a better bet than the supplementary lenses on the X100?.

Stuart - I have the XE2 with 35mm and and have often thought about going the other way to an X100T.

Having had an X100 I would say the Xe2/35mm is a lot bulkier than the X100 and when you lose the leaf shutter and the built in ND3 filter it all starts to point at the X100T being used more often. The TLC is also very pocketable so again just adds to the convenience of the package IMO.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet as cost is the key thing for me at the moment - my XE2/35mm is much cheaper than a 2nd hand X100T but never say never
