Fuji x20 - custom skins.

I'm thinking of purchasing an x20 (after missing my x100 and x10) and would like a custom skin.

Has anyone given theirs a custom skin? If so, was it fairly straight forward?

Aki Asahi skin = $20 USD
Fuji skin (looks identical) = £129.99 :eek:
 
If (*cough* when) I get one, I'd hope to get it from here where it'd likely have no warranty anyway!

I'm pretty clumsy so hoping I don't make a pigs ear of it! How long did you wait from ordering to arrival?
 
Not bad! Got my eye on the yellow lizard emboss on a nice black x20... :nailbiting:
 
I love the silver one as-is but black looks extra special with a colour pop! Of course you'd get used to it ;)
 
Just waiting for the invoice now... suppose I have to buy the x20 now... :whistle:
 
Yeah, just spotted those! Just gotta shift a couple of things before the funds are available :rolleyes:

Btw, are they self adhesive? Suppose I should go read the site and see what, if anything, it actually says rather than just ogle the options... :help:
 
Ah, nice! Thanks :) Although I might now be googling "fuji x20 vs [insert other camera here]" :whistle: hah! I really should go with the x20 - I loved my x10.
 
Hahah I sold off my two DSLR's and looking for a good, smaller camera. The x100 was my absolute baby lol so the ideal move would be an x100s but that's well out of my price range!
 
Not much tbh, hence the refurb x20 (especially after liking the x10). Probably about £350 total.

I was having a look at the Fuji X-M1 but no eye level viewfinder puts me right off.
 
Looking was definitely a bad idea! I love the XE-1. It's out of my price range, even after scouring the second hand sites. Bahh!

why not buying a fujifilm X-T1 then?

No just kidding, if money wasn't an issue I'll be tempted to sell all my canon gear for fuji gear but the body and lens are quiet dear...
 
The x20 is a beauty of a camera and you can add a few bits to it that are useful. Providing you don't mind the lens obstructing the VF a touch it's an able camera indeed. A yellow one would look the biz. ;)
 
Nah if I remember correctly I think the x10's did too? It was a bit ago though!

I just can't remember the last time I didn't use a VF tbh.. how does the XF1 hold up compared to the x20, do you know? I haven't looked too much into it - and I'll admit it's primarily because it doesn't have the same aesthetic as the x20 :love: :facepalm:
 
@Nod has both and he says he can't tell the images apart.

Aesthetically I think the x20 wins but the xf will fit in your pocket with ease where as the x20 won't really without being bulky. £109 at the Fuji refurb shop. ;)

The shots are all but identical from the baby Xs. Both have their plus and minus points - the XF lacks an OVF and the X-?0 doesn't slip into a shirt pocket. Either will deliver JPEGs that will print well to A3+ straight out of the camera. If I could only keep one of them it would be the XF-1 since MY need is for a small camera to slip into a shirt pocket. The XF is also a bit lot cheaper! The X-?0s' lenses are faster than the XF's past about 35mm (EFL) but the XF's is faster at the widest end (and a couple of mm wider).

I've just been reading some x10 vs x20 reviews and am left wondering if the x20 is actually worth the additional money..

Don't make me choose!!! Probably the black one. While the tan is (IMO) better looking, the black one is a better match for the car's upholstery. Shame the camera's finish is so coarse grained "leather" in the black - the tan is smoother.

Having had the X-10 as well, I would say that if you can find a new X-10, go for that. The only real benefit I can see that the X-20 has is the in VF shooting info and while that's good to have, it's often hard to pick out from the background and doesn't include the level. After I sold my X-10, its lens jammed shut on two occasions but was fixed both times while JUST within its extended warranty after having its sensor dealt with while in the custody of its original owner. Of course, no camera is perfect but they're getting close!

BTW, David, how easy was the new leather cover to fit and is it repositionable if you ock it cup? Is it possible to get them via non e-bay means?
 
Yeah, I had the x10 and loved it - had to sell it to raise funds when my mum was diagnosed with cancer, though. So reading these comparisons with the x20 is an eye opener... got my eye on a secondhand one but can't get to the bank till the morning!
 
Nod, the cover was a doddle to do and yes it can be pulled off and put back on. Not sure how many times but it didn't seem to have any effect on it. I actually have a spare black one that seems finer grained (if that's the right word to describe it?) if you want it as it's just sat here doing nothing. It's the one that they send with the one you buy to practice with.

I bought direct from their website.

The only reason I'd buy the x20 over the x10 is for the silver finish. I did read there were over 50 differences between the two.
 
What a marketing man might call an improvement isn't necessarily a real benefit! Look at big wheels/low profile tyres on road cars...
