Fuji XF 55-200 Lens - How good does it perform?

Hi

I know there are a few XE-1 and X-Pro1 owners on here. Anyone got the XF 55-200?

The more I read about it, the more I get confused as obviously some of the reviews are basing it before any firmware updates etc so it's hard to judge with regards to AF.

I know it's not going to be as quick as a DSLR with a zoom but is it still pretty usable? I'm thinking for things such as wildlife and the odd bit of motorsport.

IQ wise it looks brilliant.

I keep thinking of getting rid of the DSLR as to be honest as since owning the X100 and the X-Pro, the Nikon tends to mainly stay at home in the bag so I am weighing up whether this lens would be a good idea.

There's plenty of X Series users with a variety of lenses. I'm sure I've seen an Italian Photographer shooting with an X-Pro1 and 55-200mm lens with some pretty awesome results.

If nothing else it's a fine way to waste away an hour or two :)

I like them both.
Just tried the lens on both cameras,indoor results are mixed on both its a hard one, the slower focusing is mainly at the 200mm end :)

I live in Norwich if your ever up my way,you can if you want meet up and give them a try.

Yeah I'd read the 200mm end is the more slower end.
The pictures I have seen from it look stunning and crisp even at the 200mm end.

Thanks for that. I usually pop into the city a couple of times in the month so l will bare that in mind (if I haven't taken the plunge by then) lol

Its a great lens in good light it work very well, trying it indoor in low light not so well and it is very low light at mine,will give a try out in daylight :)
 
Just tried in better light,its fast enough for what i need also to be fair to the lens and camera it was never design i think for the fast action shooter in mind.

If say shooting fast sports or nature your still better of with an DSLR and the lens made for the job :)

Thanks for that. No I think your right with regards to it not being for the fast shooter. I've seen some zoo shots with the lens and it works really well which is something I would plan on using it for.
