I am going on holiday on Friday so got my XF1 out to put the battery on charge. I opened the battery door but it didn't spring out.

I ended up using a screwdriver to remove the battery, it was very tight. The battery has swollen up sideways. It is the original one and Fuji branded.

Has anyone seen this before ?

Lots of info on google about swollen batteries- and warning of potential leaking and fire risk. Is the camera still under gtee, need a battery deliverd by Thursday I would try local camera store or Amazon and prime or pay for expidited delivery.

Should be plenty of spare XF1 batteries floating about, would not pay a lot for one ..

I have not had a fault on a Fuji battery but have had faults on other rechargeables, exactly as you say. They went all swollen and it was difficult to even get them out. I just threw them away, bought now ones (often third party) and all was well. You could claim it as a faulty battery and look for a free replacement on your return but meanwhile just get one or two replacement ones and you are set for your trip.

I had exactly this recently on an original Fuji battery in my X100. It's probably several years old now, and I had some spares, but I didn't expect that from a genuine Fuji battery. :(

It can happen to any battery. Friend of mine works in an Apple repair shop, he gets devices with swollen batteries in all the time. I think it's best to avoid letting them discharge and get cold? Something like that. Always store them 50% charged and not in the device if you can help it.
