hi im looking to get a camera im new to this but realy intrested ive been looking around for a good camera but im not sure *** im looking for i have seen the Fujifilm FinePix S1000fd and im asking for your advise on this camera
 
What sort of photographs do you want to take?

I've got on of these cameras in my backup bag. It use it when I don't want to take a DSLR with me. The big zoom range is very useful and the battery life is good. Plus it's small enough to go in a handbag without being too heavy.
 
Still use mine for snapshots and it's cracking for macro work, good battery life (get some decent NiMh rechargables), great optical zoom and easy to use controls and menus. It struggles at higher ISOs (rather noisy) but has been great for landscapes, wildlife and macro work.
