Hello everyone,
Could some kind person please point me to a retailer's link, preferably UK, where I might obtain a macro adapter for my 55-200 XF zoom lens, allowing me to attach it to my X-T20? Thanks in advance. (I understand the need for manual control of aperture and shutter speed.)

Presumably you mean extension tubes, similar to the ones to which Box Brownie refers but for the X range not the GFX.

This refers https://www.fujifilm.com/news/n141120_03.html

If you google Fuji Extension tubes there are loads at a lot less than Fuji prices which retain AF.

This gives you an idea as to how they work https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/macro-extension-tubes-closeup.htm

This shows the effect of the tubes on various fuji lenses https://www.fujifilm.com/news/n141120_03.html

Just a thought tubes work better with shorter focal lengths, you might look for a used 27mm ,with two tubes you will get about the same magnification as the 60mm macro
Have fun
Chris

Tubes will work with any focal length, the big challenge is dealing with a narrower DOF. A big disadvantage of tubes on shorter focal length lenses is the fact that the working distances become very short, and this means that lighting the target object can become a lot more challenging. Putting tubes on a 55-200 zoom is a very good place to start.

Thanks for ALL your kind replies. In fact, I was insufficiently clear in that I am seeking a simple adaptor which will enable me to reverse the 55-200 lens and mount it, via the adaptor I'm looking for, on my Fujifilm x T-20.

If you're reversing a lens on to X-T20 you really need to do it using a manual aperture lens. The 55-200mm does have a manual aperture ring as such but when the lens is off the camera the aperture remains fully open and moving the aperture ring will not stop it down until its mounted on a camera properly. If it is mounted in the reverse way via an adapter there is no effective communication between the lens & camera and hence the aperture will remain fully open and as far as I know there is no way of stopping it down which is not good for macro work.

George.

George and troutfisher, my thanks again to you for pointing me in a couple of directions, but now I see the impracticality of my proposal. I will need to think of looking out a true macro lens, I believe. All best to those who have taken the trouble to read and react, thank you.
