Fujifilm S5700 problem

Hi everyone.
I'm new to this forum so don't know if I'm posting this in the right place!
Anyway, basically, the small plastic battery compartment clips on my Fujifilm S5700 camera have become brittle and mostly snapped off, hence the batteries won't stay in the camera without having something tied around the camera.
I have sent the camera to Fuji and they are refusing to repair under the 12-month warranty as they say the camera has suffered "impact damage" which it absolutely has not.
I just wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem to this, and whether it is worth persisting with Fuji to try to get this repaired under warranty.
I think they're just trying to wriggle out of a warranty repair and that's just not on.
Any comments gratefully received.
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to TP:)

Before you sent it off did you photograph the damage?

Is it possible it was damaged further "in transit" or even at Fuji?

Thank you PsiFox
Unfortunately I did not take any photos of the damage (lesson learned if ever I find myself in this situation again) The camera was well packaged so it could not have been damaged on the way there, and I can't speak for what may have happened since it arrived at Fuji.
Anyway, fortunately since I posted this message I have received an e-mail from Fuji to say they will now be repairing the camera under warranty.
I feel like I've won this time around but will be wary of them in future!

At least it's getting fixed:)

Exactly what has happened to my brother older but more robust S5000! However, being only 8, he doesn't mind coloured rubber bands!

Same thing happened to my s5800 and they also had to be 'persuaded' to fix under warranty.:D
