Full frame camera advise

I am doing primarily product photography with my NEX-6. Great camera but unfortunately I do need to be tethered to be able to control the process better than I do now. I tried to shoot without being tethered and I get great results, but I know how many images I missed due to not seeing the detail instantly. And NEX-6 cannot be tethered to any software. Slowly I am looking around to change to a camera that can be tethered, but as I am making a move, I want to go to full frame. I am not after a latest model, my budget will be small. But I shoot always at ISO 100, single frames, manual focus, so I am fine with an older camera. What I am after is a good dynamic range, large sensor (hence full frame), MP count over 16M.
i was thinking about canon 5D mark I or recently even sony a7 which is very cheap second hand (around £500).

Lens selection is not very important as shooting with manual focus I can get converters very cheaply.

Budget around £500

Do you really need to shoot tethered or would you get away with Live view?
I ask because I shoot Architecture and interiors ( Churches and Old buildings) using a 5Dmk2 and a TS-E lens.Always MF as the TS-E does not AF and always using live view where I can move the focus point around and also have 10* magnification available.
You might pick a 5D Mk2 up for around your £500 which would do the job ,cannot comment on the Sony as I have never used one.
I did try using a TS-E with a 5dMk1 but it does not have live view and as a result was a PITA.

Olympus EM5ii and use the high res mode :D It doesn't lose out that much in terms of detail to a Nikon D800 but has loads of features you will find very helpful - it will even do focus bracketing so you can stack images to increase depth of field.

Not sure a 5D classic covers that many of your requirements..?

If DR is important to you as you say, then the Sony would be better than the Canon in this regard

Original 5d is a bit long in tooth, it doesnt offer anything over recent APSC cameras besides shallower DOF at the loss of other great features and better AF. The A7 is currently 550 after cashback, in your position/requirements Id recommend that, it'll walk all over the 5D.
 
Thanks for your advice. Currently I am getting away with the live view and the magnification, but after I take a shot, I need to review it on full magnification on a relatively tiny screen to ensure i have everything in focus the way i wanted. Hence my need for a bigger screen, hence tethered shooting. I did not know the 5D does not have a live view. It is a must.

Where have you seen the a7 at that price?
