Full Frame Lenses on Cropped Body

Evening All

Following my buying a Nikon D750 complete my d7000.

I am trying to workout if it's possible to use FF lens on a DX body.

I currently have a sigma 10-20 dc lens which I know will only work as a cropped lens on the D750 so I was looking at getting a 12-24 dg to use on the 750 but how well would it work on the 7000 as I'm considering trading/selling the 10-20 to help find the new lens

They work fine, the 12_24 will act like 18- 36 on the D7000, as your only using the centre of the imaging circle they're usually pin sharp and don't suffer vignetting.
 
Don't forget the crop factor difference between Dix and fx cameras. the 12-24 with give a similar field of view as you currently get with your 10-20mm but on a full frame camera it will be much wider. 12mm on full frame is very wide.

Your current 10-20 on a crop camera gives you an equivalent field of view of 15-30mm on a full frame camera. You will have an extra 3mm at the wide end which doesn't sound much but it makes a difference.

If you don't want wider than you currently have a 16-35mm would give you a similar field of view of your 10-20mm on the d7000 but the 16-35mm wouldn't be as wide as on a d7000 as it would be the equivalent field of view as 24-52mm.
 
The Sigma 12-24 would be the one to get as 12mm is still plenty wide enough on a crop body and is crazy wide on FF.

Any of the other FF UWAs won't really be wide enough on the crop body.
 
Absolutely no problems using FF lenses on a Dx body. The only slight down side is that an FF lens is likely to be a little larger and heavier than the same focal length Dx lens.
