Full Spectrum for astrophotography

Erm, long story short. I bid on ebay for a full spectrum converted Nikon D200 to use for infrared. Bid was quite low, didn't think I'd win it and bought an IR converted D200 from TP before the auction ended. Sod's law, I 'won' the full spectrum camera as well. Now that it's here I'm trying to see if there is a use for it. Shooting full spectrum with no filter, everything is out of focus and being a D200 there is no live view to focus with. If I stick an IR filter on, I can't see a thing! I could use it for IR on a tripod I suppose but what a pain. So before I sell it on again, is it worth me trying it for astrophotography or does a sensor as old as the D200's make that difficult too?
