I'm going to be doing some macro stuff, like many others I suspect, while being a bit more cooped than usual. I thought I'd make a few backdrops.

Quick test shots. Brace yourself for the radioactive green one...

Don't say I didn't warn you! Nice way to spend a morning. The sheets are a bit bigger than A4 in size so only suited to macro work but still, should add a bit of extra dimension to my photos.

reminds me of when I got into still life stuff... took me about 3 shots to realise I basically needed a "wall" for the backdrop of my images.

Went down to local Wickes and asked if they'd any broken plasterboard sheets available cheap - ended up with a 8x4 sheet with a big crack at one end for £2 - took it out into car-park, cut it down with a stanley knife to 5x4 and put it in the car, broke rest up and left it in their bin...

Next step was to basically learn how to do "stucco rustico" from youtube instuctions - ended up with both sides of the plasterboard covered, one "rustico" the other a half reasonable polished plaster effect...

it's a great backdrop - and has been used quite heavily by me on quite a few still life shots...

That's fantastic! Will look up stucco rustico as that's definitely a next step (I don't have the room for larger still life right now, hence macro - everything is smaller!)

That's a great little project at my kind of cost! Just a pity that I've got nowhere i could store it. :(:(:(

Cracking idea - and perhaps ideal for focus stacking too.
