Future Upgrade Choices

I am not looking at upgrading now, but more so next summer, but I want to start saving the pennies and if an excellent offer comes along soon then it's dumb not to take advantage of that if price could go up again.

I have a 450D, Tokina 11-16, 18-55 kit lens and 70-200 f4 IS L. I will keep 450D, but sell the Tokina when I do make the switch over.

I don't shoot sports, and only do landscapes, low light environments, indoors and buildings. I will do people too in future. I always focus and recompose and use 1 af point - the centre one.

I am thinking of going and getting a 5D Mk II, rather than 7D due to 5D being full frame. However, I would need to change some of my lens as I have two that are EF-S, so if I went full frame what lenses would I need?

I have looked at these two for wideangles:
- 16-35 2.8 L
- 17-40 F4L

The 17-40 is cheaper and read very good reviews about it. Also both I think are 77MM filter, so no need to get new screw on filters.

I then need something in-between the above and my telephoto lens.

I was thinking he 24-70 or 24-105. However, wasn't sure which I would need. This would act as a walkabout lens. Again all lenses that I get would be needed to shoot landscapes, buildings etc.

Good choice in the 5DII though next year you may find yourself having to choose between that and a Mark 3!!

As for lenses, if your main aim is landscapes etc. then the 16-35 is an absolute must... yes it's almost double the price of the 17-40 from it is an AMAZING lens and in the long run you'll happy owning it

For me the next lens to have is the 24-70, yes not as much reach as the 24-105 but again the lens is a decent amount better. If, however, you do want that little extra reach then there's nothing wrong with the 24-105.

The best thing is you know you'll need top quality glass for a 5D
