Panasonic support, to me is poor . . . any one got any suggestions . . . other than throw the bl***y thing in the bin:bang:

I'm running Windows XP, I dont think Panasonic likes XP?????

Cliff with the link I sent you if you read the whole page it shows a window for putting the file on your SD card. the window it shows is for XP. I can't understand how it keeps asking you for w7.

Download the G1_V15.exe to your desktop (or somewhere).
Double click it to produce a G1___150.bin file

Copy this to a blank, formatted SD card. My laptop has a built in card reader.
Insert card into camera
Make sure battery is fully charged
Switch on camera
Press the PLAY button I> on the camera (the chimp button ;) )
Wait for the firmware to install - do not press any buttons whilst this is doing it's stuff

I can send you the firmware by email if you're having probs downloading ?

OK, thanks again guys, I have finally got the head around and upgraded the G1 to v-1.5. Phew, I know its not that complicated . . . but to me it was a ream mission, dyslexia robs one, first, of full understanding of written instructions, read over and over again, this then morphs into a lack of confidence . . . have I got it right??:bang:

Any old how' . . . seems to be working OK . . . well apart from the fact that I have had to reset all my original preferences . . . in the process discovering that the menu and some button functions are not 'as was' . . .

Being a 'stick in the mud', I dont like 'change for change sake', I'm now frustrated, relearning the new and revised functions:bonk: One will get there, but if I had my time again; I think I might have stayed with the camera as it was. I dont like the way the 'Q,menu' now works on the 'display button' or is there a way of swapping it back to the 'Q,menu' button?

Ho-hum, I can adapt I suppose, but it better do a top job now, or its to the 'G1 knackers yard' (for sale?) in short order:thinking:

Do you know if 3rd party batteries still work with V1.5 & what advantages are there with v1.5 against V1.4?
Regards
Toonie

My 3rd party batteries work.

There's not much different - apparently TTL flash works better and the AF is improved on some of the non-Panasonic lenses I think.

Firstly - congratulations on working it out

Secondly - stick with it... it's a great little camera and everything is still there, you just need to experiment with it a little to find the features again.

The lovely weather we're having at the moment is the perfect opportunity to get out there and take photos.

Good luck with your quest ;)

Daniel.

Thanks for the info Grum:thumbs: I'll not bother to do it & stick to V1.4
