I've been thinking of getting a good compact for a while - mostly because work and life don't leave me much time to go out with the usual kit at present so I might get more use out of something which I can slip into a pocket, shoulder bag or whatever. In particular I'm paying a very quick visit to Warsaw next month and would like to take a few shots while I'm there but taking my usual camera isn't an option.
The best spec at present seems to be the G9. The rest of my kit is Nikon but Nikon just don't have a compact with a comparable spec to the G9. I see they have released several new cameras recently but I've seen nothing about new compacts. Is there any news or rumour I've missed?

The spec looks good but I'm not sure I can justify that sort of price at present.
