Galway Long Weekend - Equipment?

Right going to Galway for a long weekend next weekend (Fri-Mon). I am travelling light with hand luggage only.

Other than no change of clothes (ewww) looking at my collection of Nikon equipment do I just take my D80 and just the 18-70 lens or should I invest in a Canon G9 tomorrow so i can still shoot RAW, get optical zoom reach and have space left in the small bag for the toothbrush.

Views from anyone who has experienced the same dilema welcome.

Buying a G9 will be as much as the wekend !

I'd stick with the D80 and kit lens - at least you are conversant with it. And the cost of the G9 would buy you another lens in the future if you so desired.

you could always get an 18-200mm for your d80 that would probably cover all the ranges you would need..... oh and a can of deoderant

Yes I'd second the 18-200VR. It's a great walk around lens. PS Don't forget the waterproofs!!!!!!!:bonk:

Think I will take the D80 then.....oh i have plenty of other lenses just not the space to take them......and the G9 would have not been just for the weekend but to replace my p+s sony that goes most places with me but lacks a good optical zoom and RAW
