Hi,

Anyone used/got one of these fitted to their camera?

After reading this review:- http://reviews.davidleetong.com/reviews/review-ggs-glass-lcd-screen-protector-2/

I am little dubious about fitting, it does say they can be removed but not re-applied in other information I have found (Don't expect to reuse). Just wondering whether it will leave a residue after removal should I want to remove if I don't like it. :shrug:

It does say it may render the 50D Anti-Glare coating useless after fitting - Hence my needing some other opinions on this. :thinking:

I have one in my 50d and it's fine, never had a problem with glare. They cannot be removed and reapplied but I struggle to see why anyone would want to.

Yes, I agree. I meant if I mess it up and want to get it off to redo. (Worse case, of course). Don't mind having to buy another one, but I don't want it totally wrecking the original screen in the process of removal.

I had one on my 5D mkII, when I bought my 7D I bought another one to be fitted to it. They are really great, much better than the thin plastic sheet ones. True about the "apply once" side mentioned above but because it is a semi-rigid piece of glass, it is difficult to mess up the alignment compared to the thin film protector and the best thing... No air bubbles! :thumbs:
 
Yep - easy peasy to fit as they're rigid. Use some pecpads and fluid to get all grease and marks off the screen and then use a blower to remove all the dust - you're guaranteed to get a small but under (at least I always do when I do these things) but you'll not notice it when the screen's on.

They come off, not easy but they do come off. They'll just need a bit of a clean of the original screen after but no they shouldn't damage it.

I love mine on my 50D so much I've just bought one for my 5DII.

I've got one on my D90 - was fitted when I bought it - and think it's great.
 
I've fitted a GGS to all of my lcd screen's on all camera's that I've owned even the small lcd screen.. :thinking: even have one fitted to my SB600 flash... They beat the plastic covers that come with the camera..

They get the :thumbs: from me......
 
I have just put one on my GF1 and one on my 40D.
I couldnt see any reason not to have one on for the price.
If you just rest it on really lightly you can move it a bit.. but it really is easy to get it right. then once you are happy, wipe the screen with a microfibre cloth to clean it and it will set it tight.

PS its GGS, not GCS... stands for Ground Glass Screen! :thumbs:
 
i have one on my 50d afer trying a few of the plastic mobile phone type ones, and never happy with the bubbles under them.

with the glass one, no bubbles at all and i am 100% happy with it

well worth buying one!
 
Totally pointless.

The LCD on the 50D is already fitted with a protective screen. If you manage to damage it (and I've yet to do so on any of my cameras) it's fairly cheap and easy to replace.

Thats your opinion...

I didn't/don't like the plastic covers that came with my Nikon bodies hence why I got the GGBS screens to protect the LCD screens...

:thinking: But then again each to our own - you have your views/opinion & I have mine as so does everyone who post here & the OP'r asked for them...

Did you miss the bit in my post where I mentioned the 50D? I guess that such an extra expense might be required on a Nikon, but it's pointless on a 50D.
