Beginner Gear

That really depends on what you intend to do with your photos and the type of photography. For social media and small prints a smartphone or a pocket point and shoot. For birds and sports you would need more specialised equipment such as long lenses over 300mm in focal length and a camera with a decent Auto Focus tracking ability. For landscapes most cameras can be suitable especially if they have the ability to record images in the RAW format and even the decent kit lenses supplied should be good enough. For portraits most cameras can do a good enough job along with the kit lens or budget 50mm f1.8 but higher spec camera bodies with more accurate auto focus and faster ( f1.4, f1,.8 )prime lenses will improve the outcome.
