Generic LP-E6 batteries?

Hi everyone. I know similar things have been posted before (havnt really been able to find a clear answer unfortunately) but could anyone give me recommendations for what generic batteries work fine with a Canon 7D (show charge, charges on original canon charger and register with the camera if possible)?

Also most generic batteries I have come across so far are 7.4V but the original is 7.2V, is this likely to cause problems?

These are the only ones that register with the camera as far asI'ma ware.

Got one from http://www.7dayshop.com works fine on my 7D no difference in performance to the original battery.

Ok so really its between the powerplanet and 7dayshop version (which I thought was the case from andyreds earlier thread on this.

Is the voltage difference from the batteries anything to worry about? (generic ones are 7.4v as opposed to 7.2v for the original Canon one)?

I've not had any problems. I have 5 LP-E6's here. 2 Canon, 3 3rd party. I'm not convinced the 3rd party give as long a life, but they are a lot cheaper

I got 4 3rd party batteries when I got my grip for the 7D and they all work perfectly, then I got 2 more of the same when I got the grip for my 5DMkII. They all work perfectly with both cameras. I can't tell the difference between them and the 2 originals that came with the cameras.
I got them all off ebay, with the 3rd party grips I've got, and only paid around £45 for the 7D grip with 4 batteries and £50 for the 5DMkII grip with 2 batteries. I think the grips are Meike (or something like that) and they also work perfectly with both of the cameras.

Do you find it false economy, to have more batteries that wont last as long, or is the difference minimal compared to the cost saving?

i use a pair of the 7dayshop ones in the 5dmk2 grip with no bothers.

re 3rd party not lasting as long as genuine i never found that the case with the 7dayshop 20D alternatives. they were higher rated mAh than the canons and lasted for 4 or so years.

I use an energizer one that shows battery % and shots taken etc. doesn't quite last as long as the proper canon one but lats plenty long enough. covered a day at oulton last saturday and shot over 2000 pics and only used about 30% of the power.

Current lowest price for an LP-E6 is £50. The one I linked to is £14.

By lasting as long, I mean holding the charge. I have no empirical evidence, but they just feel like they hold less charge. I run a 5D2 gripped, and a couple of batteries last me a fair while!

never saw that either, the 20D jobbies i had lasted longer charge wise than the stock ones

Ahhh, so really, for the cost of 1 LP-E6, you can get 3 and some change. And even if they only lasted 3/4 the amount of time (shots per charge) you still get more for your money.
