Nikon battery for d600

Is it worth the extra cost for the genuine battery ?

I have heard of certain third party batteries having higher amp output!

Is it worth it?

They may claim a higher output but what you actually get.....
The problem is that you don't know what you're going to get with third-party batteries. I've been weighing my Sony FW50s as rough estimate of the size of the cells inside: genuine ones weigh 57grams, allegedly genuine ones that were half the shop cost weigh 37grams!, 'Chilli Power' branded weigh 47grams. Unfortunately, this isn't something you can do before buying and I've only got that many because of the way my RX10 gobbles batteries. If your D600 is as frugal as my D7100, you'll probably only need one extra so I think it's worth going for a genuine one or at least a decent brand of third-party such as Hahnel.

I had problems with my genuine Canon battery on my 7D. Canon did replace it under warranty, however, after about 12 months of usage the replacement battery started to show only 2 of the 3 bars when fully charged, whilst my none Canon spare still shows 3 bars when fully charged, even after 4 years of use.

nothing wrong as long as it works and cheap lol. I've only got one third party cheap D3 battery on my D3 and it works well. Charge on the original charger too lol.

I use an original Nikon and a third party battery in my D300. Can't tell the difference, last the same time during use, takes the same time to charge etc. You can often pick up original, used batteries on here cheap though if you prefer to keep to the maker's own ones.

Does the D600 take the EN-EL15 battery? Nikon seem to have standardised with that battery as the D7000/d7100 and d800 take that battery. I think others like the d750 take them too. There was an issue a few years back with the en-el15 battery, nikon replaced them for free so do watch out out for that. You had to check the serial number on the nikon website.

I picked up 3 original en-el15 batteries used from MPB for £16 each so they are possible to find used. I was planning to spend a few days without power and the chance to recharge batteries. The only issue on here is trying to post them, lithium batteries can't be posted by Royal Mail if they are not inside a camera or grip.

Yes - the D600/610 take the EN-EL15 - Nikon have also standardised on the EN-EL14 for the 3xxx and 5xxx series

To bring it back to the OP question - dont know - I had the same question in the D6xx series - have not got around to trying one yet

What problems did the nikon batteries have? I might have one bad one! I've never had problem with em before!

I use two originals and two 3rd party ones in my d5200. Usually one of each in the grip. No noticable difference between the two and zero issues

Genuine or third party batteries?
Which type of third party batteries do you mean?
Is it the batteries that the camera manufacturers commission third party companies to make for them and then sell to us at sky hi rip off prices?
Or do you mean the batteries made by third parties such as Duracell which we can buy at reasonable prices?

After advice on here i am now using expro only had them a short while but all seams ok.1 for the D7100 and 1 for the V2

There are plenty of third party companies ( Duracell , hanhl and others ) that are cheaper but no good compared to nikon's extortionate prices

Since Duracell's expertise in making batteries is far superior to that of Canon or Nikon I'll stick to buying Duracell camera batteries.

Am not denying your point but the camera companies outsource the manufacture of these to battery companies anyway.

For example the genuine LP-E6N for the Canon 7D mark ii 5D etc are branded Canon and also state Panasonic on them.

This real issue here is that the Camera manufacturers charge a premium for their batteries despite the fact that the batteries are made by third party companies.

Well I bought two expro ones that turned up in two days and charged brilliantly and haven't lost charge yet! All bought and posted for £32

7days shop might have replacement batteries for a decent price. I had one from them and didn't notice any difference on my canon.

So superior that the one I bought for my 1DMkIV wouldn't fit the camera or the charger.

Of course it was the camera. It automatically rejects 3rd party batteries to get you to buy OE ones. It worked. I've never bought another 3rd party one

I've had 1x genuine and 1x 7dayshop battery for my 7D since new back in 2011, both of which seem pretty equal. I haven't got the patience to keep track of the number of shots I've been able to take on a single charge, nor am I ever going to - they both perform fine!

I've noticed the 'recharge performance' lights are down to just 1 (of 3) on my genuine battery and still on 3 on the 7dayshop one. I put this down to using the original battery far more, I tend to recharge it out of habit as soon as its flat, as such it's been through countless additional cycles. I almost forget I have the second battery a lot of the time.
