Yes
I recently bought a new scanner and have been merrily scanning in a lot of my old slides, what has amazed me is the intensity of colours from my old Velvia and EBX100 slides as a result of which I have decided to get an old EOS film body and start shooting a few slides again in addition to my DSLR.It also means that with my Sigma 17-35 I can get real ultra wide shots,eBay here I come.
Oh and where's the best place to buy film and get slides developed now

Beware, if your 17-35 is designed for digital, then using it on a 35mm camera means that at the 17mm end you will probable get vignetting, because its image circle won't cover the film dimensions.

But as Gaz said have a look in the Film section there is a growing number of film EOS chaps.

Favorite at the moment seems to be either the EOS 3 or 5.

Film, as Gaz said 7day shop is good place.

Thanks for the warning but it is the DG lens so should be ok on a film body,I ama actually looking for a 600,100 or 10

Tbh with film it doesn't matter too much about the body with film.

The quality of the shot will come down to the film and the lens.

I'd also have a look at something like eos50e which I have and can be had for 40quids

sid

Not necessarily so.....

For example the canon EOS 30 had a viewfinder with only about 90% coverage. You got all sorts of crap in the image despite careful composition.

The EOS 3 is a great camera....

Had a 50 many moons ago and it was a nice camera, actually thinking about it my favourite Canon ever was a 600 so I might have a look around for one of those

One thing which doesn't seem to get mentioned is that transparancies have a very high dynamic range.

Years ago most magazines wanted a minimum of 2 1/4 square transparancies and the higher class ones sometimes went as high as 6x4.

These were then printed using a four colour process and produced very high quality shots.

It occurs to me that such transparencies could be turned into HDR pictures using modern programs.

I used to shoot in 2 1/4 using Ektachrome, and there was always detail lost in printing.

 You'll find all kinds of crazy bargains on eBay. I bought this EOS 5 in March, for 26 quid (without the lens ;)).
