So I've had very little to do with photography for quite some time. I started with a Pentax MZ50 film SLR many years ago, gradually progressing to a DSLR over the years and ending up with a 40D (which I loved) and a nice collection of lenses. For various reasons they had to go and apart for a brief ownership of a Nikon D90 bought solely to photograph my nephews wedding then sold on again my daily camera has been on an iPhone. Things have changed, I have some cash and it looks like I'm able to go shopping
However, where do I start? Do I purchase new or second hand and maybe get better spec or glass? Do I want full frame, crop or compact system camera? I like the look, feel and control layout of the Fujis and I like the 'look' of the images they produce, but I loved the size of my 40D. I have tried LED viewfinders in the past and wasn't that impressed (a couple of point and shoots and a couple of m4/3s) but from what I understand they have come on leaps and bounds.
So at the moment (if I go for new) my choices seem to be
Fuji XT-1 plus 18-135
Fuji XT-10 or XE2 with 18-55 and 55-200
Canon 70D with 18-135
Nikon D7200 with 18-105 or 140
Push the boat out and buy a 7D mk2
Budget wise I could possibly stretch to 1500 pounds at a push, but less would be a bonus as it could go towards saving for more glass
My other constraint is a bit more of a problem. I work in Saudi Arabia and I've seen some fantastic photo opportunities but it is definitely not the most photographer friendly place in the world. It's against the law to photograph government buildings (that's an awful lot of them as most industries seem to be part owned by them for example), people do not like having their photo taken and can get rather unpleasant and the religious police (friendly chaps) have some rather bizarre ideas about what is morally acceptable and what they think you shouldn't photograph (believe me, you don't want to upset them).
At the moment I'm going round and round in circles. Every time I think I've decided I come up with a negative. Fuji - great images (positive), not sure on compact size(negative), Canon/Nikon - bigger (positive and negative). I'm leaning towards Fuji, but again which one? If I get an XT10 or XE2 will I regret not having the amazing viewfinder of the XT1? Is it worth paying the extra? I guess the weather sealing would help with the dust (you wouldn't believe where dusty sand finds it's way).
Any help would be really appreciated.
