Hi folks, just trying to figure out if I can get a view of the lenses of the same subject! I currently have a D700 with the sigma 10-20mm then upto the nikon 50mm then upto the nikon 105mm should I go the full hog and get the 14-24mm nikon or would I get away with A 35mm hope that makes sense if anyone has come across a diagram with the same picture with a range of lenses as an example I would love to see it.

Michael.

This is a purely subjective question as it depends on "what you want to do". The range of lenses are there to provide the choice of tools for the job you need.

I have the same camera as you, but I chose to go for the 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8. Why? because I photograph people, and this gives me a full focal range to play with even in low light conditions, so for me its perfect and versatile. Would a 105 macro be of any use to me? no, because I dont really do macro work.

So the question you should be asking is "what do I want to do with my camera" then you can choose an appropriate lens for the job :)

Hope that helps

I am crap at explaining, the 10-20 is not full frame compatable and I would like to know what the 14-24 would allow me to see on the full frame I will be doing a few weddings over the next few months and would like to not use the sigma 10-20 if at all possible just heading out and will reply again after 8.

thanks for the link and thanks for the question!

Michael.

14-24mm will be amazingly wide on your D700. Presumably you had a DX camera before you got the D700? Well, it would be the equivalent of about 9-16mm on your old camera. Probably too wide to be much use at weddings, I would suggest.

I agree. 24mm is probably wide enough for weddings. I think I've used my 14-24 at one wedding, for one (big) group this year
