Getting rid of fixer crystals?

On my way back to home processing I've found a fixer bottle to be coated with crystals that are reluctant to move. It's a Jobo bottle for their processors, so I'm keen to reuse it. Is there a preferred method of cleaning either by abrasion (shaking with glass marbles) or chemically?

Thanks in advance, Peter

I can not think of anything in unused fixer that had crystallized out that would not dissolve in hot water. If it was partially used there may be some silver salts in the mix. I would try using some fresh fix to see if that does the trick.

Thanks Terry. It would definitely have been partially used for film, but there'll be no fortune in the silver content!

Hot water and fresh fixer on their own had some effect, but it took abrasion by marbles and brush to remove the built-up layer. We're in business now though, so hopefully some negs to be scanned in the next couple of days. ;)
