Gig Lighting/Shooting queries.

Yes
Hope this is the right section.

1/ When shooting my first gig, the only lighting in the venue was Blue/Green/Red LED's, and some of the colours/photos were a little burnt out in spots!
What 'White Balance' or any other setting should I have used, if any?
I know that in general, usual red lighting is hard to capture  or are those in-house lights just no good

2/ In general...
Do you still have the protective UV filter on?
Always shoot in RAW?
One shot or Al Servo?

Got a couple of decent gigs coming up and would welcome any additional advice in advance please.
Thanks!

I'd shoot on Auto WB, it does a pretty good job with the lights and you can fix the rest in PP. It's pretty difficult to handle those red lights though.

Don't have any filter on my lens, need all the light I can get at some gigs, for protection I just keep the hood on.
Always shoot in RAW? Yes.

One shot or Al Servo? One shot. Servo tends to focus on guitar strings or the microphone so almost always one shot, although I used servo shooting Prodigy as they moved so much.

Lots of info here for you too.

Yep, 1 shot is best usually. You need a quick finger though!

I always use Auto WB and edit in PP if needed, but to be honest the camera usually gets it right.

The best way is to befriend the light guy and get the lights you want! Worked wonders for me!

Okay...turn up at gig but the lighting is very poor. Lots of RED :bang: and any white lights aimed lower body of the band on stage. :(
To get some light in the camera, I had to set down to less than 1/100s, sometimes 1/80s, but way too slow!
Would it be best to still shoot at +1/125s and then try and edit, bring out the colour later in PS, or on a loser from the off with the poor light?
Some of the photos looked alright  on the camera screen but when up on the PC...
Don't know much (if any) about editing RAW files etc :shake:

Cheat's method for this kind of lighting situation is to convert to monochrome in PP :)

Have you read the thread which I think is in the tutorials section on gig photography? Has some tips on this. I agree with the cheaty monochrome tip though :)

Yeah, I read that changing the 'red' photos to B&W can save an image.
Hopefully, the next gig won't be too dark!
