9 months ago i purchased a Giottos GTYTL 9213 alu tripod to accomodate my 5x4 kit.

As it is, it didn't see a lot of use before developing a centre column fault.

I have to say that having always had manfrotto tripods, i was none impressed.

Perhaps thé quality simply isn't up to thé same standard although they offer 5 years of warranty.

Naturally i contacted Giottos and one month acter returning thé defective tripod, I have received news today that it will be replaced with thé carbon version!!! :)

All in all a good after sales service.

I hope thé replacement doesn't develope a similar problem..

Have other people experienced faults / breakages with Giottos produits or was i simply unlucky?

I have had a Giottos MTL 9361B for a couple of years and it has been fine,no problems at all.

Well worth you paying for the return of the original one I guess although you shouldn`t be the one to pay.

Well your experience gives me some confidence that i was unlucky and the replacement will be just fine :)

I have to agree that with most warranties , it kinda sucks that return postal fees are charged to the purchaser

In this case i've come up trumps so the tenner or so to send it back doesn't hurt anymore :D:D

There goes 8 can of beanzzzz though :p

The only problem I've had with my Giottos Vitruvian is that the knurled rubbers on the leg locks and clamp screws have split. A drop or 2 of superglue has cured the problem though!
