Yes
.
I'm sure the answer is 'yes' - just a check as dont want to mess up

just got a Giottos 3-way 5001 head from Euan here - superb mint

anyway......in the Manfrotto tripod 'head plate'

there are 3 'grub' screws, inserted with slot uppermost and flush with plate

do I remove, add the head
then invert grub screw , and replace from underneath,,,,

it appears they are used to lock the head securely......?

Yes you will be fine, got a Cullmann head on mine and its good as gold

Grub screws are for precisely the reason you mention and just tighten from underneath

As the guys said although I mounted my 5001 on a Vanguard tripod without the need to tighten the grub screws as the fitting with the main screw( ? ) was pretty much perfect and secure.

The 5001 is a great head for an incredibly little amount of money.

Glad you like yours
