When I wanted to replace mine half a year ago I compared Vitruvian with Benro and Sirui and got a Sirui in the end. It is very well made (better than Benro in my view and for that matter a lot better than Giottos). I got (
TX2204 and K-20x ballhead - for £225 from HK eBay seller (he was very good accommodating a different/more sturdier ballhead for me than the one packaged).
If you want the detachable monopod leg, I'd go for
Sirui N2204 tripod instead. I also quite like their ballhead - it's holding my camera with 80-200 f/2.8 lens rock solid even when not attached by lens collar (so quite unbalanced). And it all folds down to a travel size that actually fits in my Redsnapper camera backpack (inside).
Apart from the quality, I like these tripods for being more complete - thus for example the spikes on tripod feet are build in and can be retracted by turning the feet rubber parts (they are screw driven and very stiff) so it does not need any screws or keys to change which is very flexible if you are out in changing terrain.
Also one extra thing to add is that I have an experience with Sirui themselves and their support is second to none. My model (TX2204) came with the short column that does not have a hook (it can be screwed to a longer column as extension or used on its own as just short column but the screw is permanently welded). I emailed them complaining that it does not and asking if I can buy one from the N2204 model (which is the same parameters but has short column with a threaded grove for hook attachment from the larger column). Instead they asked for my address and send it to me for free with lots of apologies - it only took 3 days to arrive. And this was a CF column which is not exactly cheap.
Since then I have been using it quite extensively through the summer and also recently in Winkworth arboretum during quite ghastly weather - it performed brilliantly.
