Gitzo Cremaillere3 and R no4 head

I got this tripod a few years ago and I'm not much of a tripod user so it's been sitting around in my room ever since.
I'm now getting into doing some video so need a tripod. I'm not sure whether to get a new head for this one and sell the current head or sell the whole thing and buy a complete tripod - Jessops have an alright looking own brand video one at £99.
Any ideas? Will I get more for the tripod and head together? The tripod is fully metal and pretty heavy so I'm thinking that replacing it with something newer and lighter might be wise but I'm aware I'd probably not et something as high quality.

Mmmm thought I'd stick it in f&c as there's a lot of users of large format gear in there. See it's been moved to talk equipment now tho so pretty sure it'll be largely ignored. Nevermind.

Are you doing video using a DSLR or a proper professional video camera with interchangeable lenses e.g. PDW-700 as the difference in weight will affect the advice?

Most video tripods are not particularly light for good reason and it's not an area I'd overly concerned with saving weight.

If it's just DSLR footage then I'd keep your existing tripod as it has the weight and will be fine for the job. I would look to buy a good fluid head like a manfrotto 501 hdv. You could then sell your 3 way head although not sure how much they are worth. I suppose you could sell the whole thing as a bit of a classic (although how much are they really worth these days?) and then invest in a manfrotto 117b and 501hdv which would probably come in around £350 or something like that.

If you wanted to do it cheaply then you could get away with the Velbon DV7000 for DSLR/ lighter video cameras- about £100. Like everything you get what you pay for but there are exceptions.
