Spent some time at a local nature reserve this afternoon, shooting this and that. The main part of the reserve is a pond/lake which, due to it being brass monkeys, was frozen in most parts.

Changed one lens for another and lost my grip on the replacement, causing it to career towards the water

Before I knew it, it had bounced twice and come to rest on the ice within easy reach! :woot:

God I love this weather!

Anyone else had a close shave with the gear?

 that was lucky.

Dean:)

... not had anything as close as that, but gotta say you were incredibly lucky

Had a close one a few years back on the McRae stages in Scotland, the lens I had on my camera hadn't a lens hood on it as I'd broken it and was also a little bit big for what I needed at the time, so decided to change it for my smaller lens.

Luckily this one had a hood on it, the next car to come through flicked a brick up which then hit my camera knocking it out of my hands. Seeing something fly off in the other direction was a bit worrying at the time. Then realised it had knocked the lens hood from the camera, putting a split in it but no damage to the lens or the camera thankfully.
