Glass.photo: users thread

This suggests it is a browser issue to me.
Any idea what it might be in the browser. It's not opening with either Safari or Chrome (but it used to). It seems that they are opening in a viewer for people using phones and iPads, but with the exception of Gramps. not on Mac desktops or laptops. But it works on @Paulie-W 's PC.

I've had a look at the browser settings, but I can't see anything obvious, but that doesn't mean much.

One suggestion I found was to clear the cache (in safari) which I have done but it hasn't helped.

No, on PC. Doing exactly what i`ve done in the past.
That narrows it down a bit if the viewer is working on a PC, and now we know it works on iPhones, iPads, iPhones, and Gramps Mac, but no one else's Mac :-(

I can't click to view any larger using Firefox, Brave, Edge or Opera on Windows 11. I think that's because the image is embedding in the page, but served from Glass, rather than being hosted by TP. Something may have changed with Glass to prevent a click-through/pop-out.

I wonder what's special about Gramps set up :)

I will try and ask Glass.

Just a test to see what happens with files uploaded from a TP album

View media item 110427

and drop and drag from my local drive both are 1024px and from my walk in the rain yesterday (not that it matters)

EDIT: well I'm none the wiser. Clicking on the picture in the tP album opens the album page and not the TP viewer (or at least not the viewer that used to open pictures from Glass). And the picture dragged into the post opens nothing when clicked (which is what I expected).

I'm tempted to just delete the post, but as it's here, I'll leave it for now.

I'm not sure whether it's working on my Mac or not tbh; I'll check it later if I can.

I really like the clean interface.

Prefer the bbcode way of adding images here from Flickr that includes the title, plus I often click through to look at the image on Flickr and then browse other photos that they uploaded.

Is there a Lightroom Classic uploader plugin like the one I use to upload photos to Flickr? This is the crucial bit to my workflow - once the image is titled, tagged etc in LRC, it is simply a case of right clicking and adding selected image(s) to be published to my photostream.

Yes there is a LR classic uploader

This is relatively new. They have had a Capture One uploader for a long time, and it seems to work well. But I have only uploaded a couple of test images.

Can you give me a link to your Glass page so I can add it to the list on here of TP forum users on Glass - if you want it added, of course? Unless you are already there and I've forgotten adding you.

Congrats - share the pic with us then (y)
It wasn't anything special, but the theme was "Shapes" and it fits that pretty well:

I have just signed up, and managed to get 50% off my first year with the code GREENLIGHT if anyone wants a discount.

I have also signed up for a free FOTO account, and am going to run them side by side to see which (if either) is better.

If you would like me to add your Glass account to my list of TPers with Glass accounts, can you post a link and I will add it to the list.

The list is here:

Okay, a few days in, Glass is hands down the winner. It has people that comment on your images and provide critique. It's not full of bots and cack like instacack. It's not full of trash and ads like flickr.

I love it, it has the sense of a real photography app made for photographers.

Looking for a bit of advice from Glass users as to whether Glass could work for me?

I take photos of my daughters rugby games and post them onto Flickr in dedicated Albums for each game. I then post a link to a Whatsapp group for all the girls and parents to view the album. Currently some of the games have approx. 200 photos in JPEG format. Theres a bit of accompanying text for each album with the score and opposition. I dont tag photos with labels etc.

I've just got a renewal from Flickr and have decided to look elsewhere, to see what's available and whether i can save some money.

Will Glass allow me to store photos in albums and then distribute a link for people to view through a web browser? I dont want them having to use an app to view.

Can these images be downloaded by the person viewing to their device? If so, is that at full resolution or reduced? My jpegs are generally around 8MB.

Can i make the albums private and only viewable to those with the link? Im not too concerned about people 'stumbling' across the pictures but it would be nice to have some control as to who can see them. That said, one of the better photographers who attends some matches, displays photos on his Facebook page, so no control there.

I'm probably going to give Glass a try, but i thought id ask about its use case for me, before spending time on it.

I don't think Glass is ideal for this, it's much more geared to being a photographer's "portfolio" site for sharing your best photographs with other photographers.

It may well be that you could "cobble " something together that might work on Glass, for example it is possible to download images but "I think" only at their display resolution, and I'm not sure you selectively make different parts of the site private and public,. Also, unless it's changed, you cannot make any uploads private to other members of Glass.

Hopefully people who have explored Glass more than I have, me can add to this answer.
