I swore to myself nearly 12 months ago when I got the D5000 it would last me at least 3 years becasue of the quality of the sensor etc etc...

Now I flipping want a D300s!!! I can't stop thinking about it - D5000 quality in my D200's body.... Arggggg!!!

Someone tell me its not worth selling my iPhone 4, Nikon D200, Nikon D5000 for one....:razz::'(:bang:
 
Give me your iphone and Ill tell you whatever you like.
 
I like the size, heft and build quality of my D300...which is why I bought it just a year after getting a very serviceable D80. So I can't hold myself up as a shining example of fiscal restraint. :lol: I have, however, managed to restrain myself from further camera purchases for more than three years.

So...what specifically about the D5000 is not actually meeting your needs? And is the D300s the best way of overcoming the shortfall? Right now you have two excellent cameras; one serves as a backup, the other is your main camera. If you have to sell both to finance a D300s, you'll be missing that backup. Just a thought.

I know, I've been spoilt - they are 2 brilliant cameras. The thing is, I love the advancements of the D5000 - like the excellent sensor, the LV and movie mode that I do use quite a lot. But I hate the small build, the delving into menus all the time, and no proper back button AF. The D200 offers all that, but looses out on the sensor and todays advancements...I know its stupid to even consider such a camera in my current position, but.....arg!
 
You've got an itch....it's time to scratch it !

Thing is, until you do...well, you know the rest.
 
How about picking up a D90?
Same sensor as the D300s, you keep the LV, Movie mode etc.. and it's cheaper!
 
Well...it always boils down to money, I suppose. If you can afford it...go for it.
