Going from Nikon D3 to D750 - what will I miss??

I have both still like the d3 fps and the feel of the camera fits my hand well
 
I dont buy into the 'prosumer' line at all. The d750 has exceptional build quality and in terms of function, theres absolutely nothing that would make me rather have a d3... Or a d3s for that matter. It's as 'pro' as any nikon I've used. Only pluses for the d3, off my head are buffer and fps... and the battery life. The image quality at base and high iso of the d750 more than makes up for it though. It has seriously better colours, dr, resolution in a much lighter body.

All true - but the OP asked what he'd miss;)

EDIT - just to add, my D810 is far better than my D3x in all aspects of image quality etc so I know what you mean, but personally I prefer the larger, heavier body. Now, if they'd put the 810 internals into a D4 body............

A pal of mine (Wedding tog) has used a D3s for several years and swore by how good it is - he recently had experience of using the D750 and immediately sold the D3s to buy a D750; which is comments all the time is AWESOME and he doesn't regret getting rid of the D3s one iota

So on his experience I'd say you'll gain far more than you'll miss :)

Its aimed at the same user group as the D700 was ... a load of keen amateurs will buy it and so will some pros.
Lensrentals call it 'prosumer' and so do many others, it's not a derogatory term it's where it sits in the range of available consumer and pro cameras.
 
Most pros I know are buying the D750 - some like me, 2-3 bodies at a go. Most Nikon amateur photographers I know own D800s or D810s.

I think prosumer is an awful portmanteau... it grates on me. Based on anecdotal evidence thus far, I imagine that many more pros will buy the D750 than will amateurs whereas bodies like the D6** and D7*** seem more likely to find homes more predominantly among amateurs.

Tbf I did say; "Only pluses for the d3, off my head are buffer and fps... and the battery life" :beer:
 
The only thing I miss is the grip and shape of the D3. Even though it was heavy, I do miss the feel of the D3 in my hands and the way all the buttons I needed sat in exactly the right places. If they put the D750 inside a D3 body I'd be in heaven.
 
You'll miss the buffer and the comfort. I've recently done that switch and I miss the D3. Don't get me wrong, I'm making images that I couldn't get with the d3, but it just isn't as pleasurable making them.
