ISO 800 - unfortunately required due to the light....shutter speed was only 1/60th...was quite pleased to get a non blurry image tbh as my 70-200 is not the IS version...
also had exposure bias set to +5/3 EV to try and boost the shutter speed....
Nice shot do agree its a bit noisy but as you say the light is often poor this time of year
You are lucky to get the Goldfinches ours have disapeared

Love it. I've had all sorts in my garden during the snow, until the Sparrowhawk showed up.
Personally i dont mind the noise, a good capture in itself is more satisfying for me than to worry about ticking all the right boxes.
