The plan was to do light painting at dusk but condensation started to form on the car after sunset and that was really the end of the shoot.

you could make it smaller, say the same size and font as the normal registration numbers and letters, then it would look more natural

Totally and utterly non expert here but I would be tempted to take the plates off. Couple of screws, quick wipe and much improved picture.

Agreed, I keep getting drawn to the white screw cap on the front plate!
Such a tiny thing, but really draws the eye in.
Love the light on number 5!
