Good £50 Compact Camera

Looking for a Compact around the £50 mark and was wondering if anyone knew any good ones out there? (And I want it to be new, it's a present for someone).

It's for snapshots, not for photography.

Head on down to your local supermarket and you'll be spoilt for choice. Samsung might be the cheapest name with any cudos.

FWIW... I have a Medion fixed focus that at the end of it's run was on sale for £12 and it takes pictures that look great at A4 so I'm sure that the more modern Samsung or even cheaper Vivitar will be even better. In fact I was at a birthday party last week and someone was using a Vivitar that seemed to give excellent snaps.

Having a look on Amazon there's quite a few you could go for, cheapest i've heard 'recommended' is the Canon PowerShot A495, a bit over but worth a look.

Look on Warehouse Express, only 2 compacts under £50.

Nikon Coolpix L21 and Fuji Finepix AV100. Both £49.99.

I'm sure both will do fine for snapshots.

GE are meant to do very good value compacts but they start at around £80.

Go for the Nikon L21, one of my friends has one and it's a great little camera
