Yes
Just looking into insuring all my kit finally... Any recommendation?

Edit.. Or through house insurance?

Whatever you end up buying check out the cost of puting it on your house insurance on an all risks basis.
I found that cheaper than the independent quotes.

Professional use: Aaduki (avoid E&L, unless you like ridiculous get out clauses so they don't have to pay)

Personal use: Home insurance is always a good shout, but they're unlikely to cover you if you've got any professional use at all.

If it is for professional use, don't forget public liability & professional indemnity as well!

At the minute it's just for personal use.

What line crosses to the professional stage? E.g if I sold a picture or two?

It'll depend on a lot of factors, insurance company, values, value of the claim (at a guess, they're more likely to investigate a 2k claim than one for £200), your insurance history

We're second guessing them though, of course. Better to be safe than sorry IMO...

My years premium for the following was £220 or so;

£5million public liability
£10k kit cover (£1.5k single item limit unless defined)
£100k professional indemnity

with Aaduki

I guess that is the *pro* cover option. This sounds more reasonable than the silly £400 with excess for the same £10k gear (I wish it was really anywhere near that!!!) from the other popular insurer.
